Robert Cox is currently Lecturer of Art at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
He has taught Drawing, Painting, Color Theory and Design at various schools in
the South including the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa
and Young Harris
College in north Georgia.
Mr. Cox’s visual work reflects
the richness of the Southern Appalachia
region. Created primarily from direct observation, the work represents
literally thousands of miles hiked and canoed in the remaining old-growth forests, swamps, rivers and mountains of the
South. He has participated in over 80 regional and national exhibitions of art,
including 10 one-person exhibitions.
Robert
Cox received his Master of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from the University of Memphis. He also holds a degree in
Studio Art from the University of North Alabama in Florence. In 1999 he was awarded a Fulbright
Foreign Scholarship to study the art and culture of Turkey.
